‘Trust men and they will be true to you; treat them greatly and they will show themselves great.’
Ralph Waldo Emerson
The matter of trust and authority has never been as important as it is now. With the advancement in information technology where things are changing every split of a second, it has become extremely essential to build and maintain the trust people have in us. Of course, trust-building has never been easy.
With a deluge of information in the internet it has become even more difficult to trust and rely on the source of information. We are in a dilemma in choosing the websites that are trustworthy.
Say, for example, we have a website which gives information on medicines or medications. What are the factors that make us actually believe the information given in that particular site? Will we be able to give our kids the medicines prescribed by the website?
Well, these are things which need to be seriously thought over. Are we providing the right information for the benefit of others or are we doing that just to raise the level of ranking in Search Engine Results Page (SERPs)?
Most of us as writers eulogize ourselves. If we are writing about our company, we tend to focus more on its products, services or features. What we can do instead is to focus on our readers or users and write about the benefits of each of the products, services or features.
The one thing that all website builders and owners have to keep in mind is that it is people who are their end users and not Google, Yahoo or Bing. If we cannot win the confidence and trust of our readers/users, we are doomed to fail. Neither will we appear in any search engine results nor will we be ever able to gain the trust of people.
